DESTINATION WEDDING IN GREECE: PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM

Planning a destination wedding in Greece? Wedding photography and film by one team, across the whole country, since 2007.

Greece has everything a destination wedding needs: long summers, islands and coastlines, historic chapels, vineyards and city venues within easy reach of Athens. Videografos.gr has photographed and filmed weddings since 2007, with more than 1,500 weddings behind us, and we cover destination weddings across the whole country, from the Athens Riviera to the islands.

On this page you will find how we work with couples who travel to Greece to marry, what to plan, and how photography and film fit into the day.

Why choose Greece for your destination wedding

  • Light and season. The wedding season runs roughly from May to October, with warm evenings and long golden hours. Read our notes on the best months to marry in Greece (in Greek).
  • Variety of settings. Island villages, beaches, mountain villages, olive groves, wineries and elegant Athens venues, often within a short drive or ferry ride of each other.
  • Civil or religious ceremonies. Foreign couples can marry in Greece in a civil ceremony, a religious ceremony, or both. See our guide to getting married in Greece for the paperwork.
  • Intimate or large. Greece works just as well for an elopement for two as for a three-day celebration with family and friends.

Destination wedding photography and film by one team

Most couples who travel to Greece want both photographs and a wedding film. When the same team handles both, there is one timeline, one point of contact and one consistent style, from getting ready to the last dance.

  • Wedding photography: natural, documentary-style coverage of the ceremony, your guests and portraits timed for the best light.
  • Wedding videography: cinematic wedding films and highlight videos, with drone footage where the location and regulations allow it.
  • Pre-wedding and next-day sessions: extra time for portraits in a location that matters to you.

We offer 3 photo and video packages for weddings. You can compare them on our wedding photographer prices page, and we tailor coverage for destination weddings that need travel or more than one day.

How planning works when you are abroad

  1. Tell us your date and location. Send us your date, the island or region, the venue if you have one, and roughly how many guests.
  2. Get a tailored proposal. We suggest the coverage that fits your day, including any travel.
  3. Plan the timeline together. We help you build a realistic schedule around the ceremony time, sunset and transfers between locations.
  4. Wedding day. We photograph and film the day as it unfolds, quietly and without taking over.
  5. Delivery. Your edited photos and film usually arrive within 30 to 90 days.

Planning tips for a destination wedding in Greece

  • Start early. Venues and suppliers for summer dates book well ahead, so contact your photographer and videographer 4 to 6 months before the wedding, or earlier.
  • Sort the legal side first. Greek civil and religious weddings need documents such as birth certificates with an Apostille and official Greek translations. Our getting married in Greece guide explains the steps.
  • Plan around the light. Midday summer sun is harsh. Many couples schedule the ceremony for late afternoon so portraits fall in the golden hour.
  • Think about transfers. On islands, narrow roads and busy villages can slow you down. Leave buffer time between the ceremony, portraits and reception.
  • Choose trusted suppliers. Browse our list of recommended wedding vendors in Greece.

Frequently asked questions

Do you photograph and film destination weddings anywhere in Greece?

Yes. We are based in Athens and cover weddings across all of Greece, on the mainland and on the islands. Destination weddings outside Athens are arranged individually, so tell us your location and date when you get in touch.

Can we book both a photographer and a videographer?

Yes. Photography and wedding film are produced by the same team, so planning, timing and style stay consistent. Our wedding packages combine photo and video coverage.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend contacting us 4 to 6 months before the wedding, and earlier for a summer date, since popular dates fill up quickly.

When will we receive our photos and film?

Delivery is usually within 30 to 90 days, depending on how much material there is to edit.

Is a wedding in Greece legally valid in our home country?

A civil or religious wedding performed and registered in Greece is generally recognised abroad, but rules vary by country. Check with your own authorities and read our guide to getting married in Greece for the Greek paperwork.
